Irish Soda Bread<\/td>\nThere are tons of soda bread recipes. Initially I decided to go with one<\/a> that calls for raisins and sugar. Later I found a recipe<\/a> that sounded more authentic and used fewer ingredients. My menu already contained two desserts, so I switched to baking plain soda bread. I couldn’t find non-homogenized buttermilk so I used the one I found. I also added 1 teaspoon of sugar (because I like my bread to have a hint of sweetness). It turned out to be a delicious loaf of bread. Update:<\/em> A day later, the part of the loaf left after yesterday’s dinner is still soft and moist and just as delicious. Amazing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Shepherd’s Pie<\/td>\nShepherd’s pie is definitely a type of comfort food. I went with lamb as my choice of meat and stayed true to the recipe<\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Apple & Bramble Cake<\/td>\nI totally cheated. I used Trader Joe’s cake mix instead of preparing the batter from scratch. No regrets though. There is always hope that next time I will keep to the recipe<\/a>. \ud83d\ude42<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Strawberry Fool<\/td>\nThe recipe<\/a> is simple, very easy to make and super delicious. Since strawberries that I bought were not very sweet I added about 2 teaspoons of sugar to both strawberries and cream mixtures.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The Irish food that I was making didn’t call for many ingredients, yet it was super tasty. I think that everyone fell in love with soda bread (maybe because we were hungry at the moment?). My older son Matthew praised Shepherd’s Pie and so did we (the grownups). Matthew has been promoted to the position of a kitchenhand (he prepared blackberries for the cake). Alex has been demoted \ud83d\ude42 to the position of a steward and was responsible for cleaning kitchen and washing the dishes.
