Italian Cuisine
When Matthew drew Italy as our next week’s country, I was excited but at the same time a little puzzled. I didn’t have any idea to what should I cook. There are too many options and recipes and favorite Italian dishes. Well, I thought, let it be an Italian week instead of an Italian day. So this week I cooked an Italian dish or two (or three) every evening. However, I’m not going to list them all here because it would take me forever to write about them. In fact, I’m going to list only one dish here, but it’s the one that made this week unforgettable.
| Classic Zabaione |
| This dessert totally rocks! It is made of only 4 ingredients: egg yolks, sugar, Marsala, and salt. Simple yet super delicious. I adjusted the quantities of the products in the original recipe to make more of this stuff. Now I have to write down this recipe so that I will always have it handy. 🙂
Ingredients
Instructions Fill a large saucepan with about 2 inches of water and bring to a gentle boil. In a separate metal bowl, combine all ingredients. Place bowl over simmering water and start whisking constantly and vigorously (I used a handheld mixer for the task). Make sure to scrape the bottom of the bowl so that eggs do not harden or scramble. Whisk until the mixture is thick, foamy and tripled in volume, about 8 minutes. Remove the bowl from heat and whisk for 30 seconds more. You’re done! There is a lot of options for accompanying foods but I prefer to eat it as is without adding extras. |
